Using the best compound butter recipes is a fabulous way to elevate a dish. And the beauty of it is that you can flavor the butter with just about anything!3 colorful bowls full of Compound Butters

To have great success while cooking, you must start with the best ingredients possible.

This is true whether we're talking about anything from a fresh tomato to pasta, and of course, to butter!

I've been using Kerrygold butter for the past year or so -- and don't foresee using another butter in the near future.

So creamy, so rich, and so delicious! You can learn more about this beautiful Irish butter and other Kerrygold products here.

So let's create dome delicious Kerry Gold butter recipes!

What is compound butter?

A compound butter is simply a butter that has had other flavors added to it.

While spreading plain butter on bread is delicious, compound butters are interesting, impressive and can be even more delicious.

Recipe Tips

  • It's always best to use unsalted butter for compound butter recipes. You want to be able to control all of the flavor yourself.
  • Be sure the butter is at room temperature before you mix in any ingredients. Otherwise, it's near impossible to blend.

How to Use Them

These butters are fantastic on breads, bagels, pasta, fish, chicken, steak, and the list goes on. The possibilities are truly endless!

You can make the best compound butter recipes, too. Just look around your pantry to see what you might like to blend into your butter and spread on your bread for your next get together.

Compound Butter: Smoky Tomato, Lemon-Dill & Chai

Using compound butter recipes is a fabulous way to elevate a dish. And the beauty of it is that you can flavor the butter with just about anything!

Smoky Tomato Butter

  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ½ teaspoon tomato paste
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

Meyer Lemon-Dill Butter

  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 teaspoon Meyer lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon Meyer lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon finely chopped fresh dill
  • salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

Spiced Chai Butter

  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ½ teaspoon golden brown sugar
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground ginger

For all three recipes

  1. Be sure the butter is at room temperature and is very soft.
  2. Add the softened butter to a small bowl and add the remaining ingredients. Use a small spoon to mix until it's completely smooth.

  3. With the exception of the Chai recipe, season to taste with salt and pepper.

Not sure exactly how to season to taste? Here's how.

Calorie count is only an estimate.

I have wanted to try this for some time now,but never get around to buying it. I ALWAYS use real butter when i cook and bake.I bake in a restaurant 3 days a week, and at home almost as much. Real butter is always close at hand.
